I knew I wanted to be a nurse at a young age. During a hospital visit for a minor surgery, I really admired the doctors and nurses, and I experienced so much compassion from them. When I told the doctor that I wanted to become a nurse, he reduced our bill and told my mother to invest the money in my education.
Their kindness, combined with my desire to care for others, inspired me to become a nurse.
Now, I’m living that dream. I am studying for my Bachelor of Nursing at Charles Sturt University’s Port Macquarie campus.
Nursing, to me, is all about kindness, compassion, and caring for others. I honestly can’t imagine myself in any other profession.
Here at Charles Sturt, I have access to modern clinical labs and incredibly knowledgeable instructors who support me every step of the way.
In my studies back in Nepal, we didn’t have access to as many resources. So, studying in Australia has helped me develop my skills and grow my confidence.
Living in Port Macquarie has been an amazing experience. Coming from a landlocked country, I love to be so close to the beach!
When I feel a little homesick, I go for a walk along the beach. The calm, cool water and warm weather make me feel at ease.
If you’re thinking about a career in nursing, I’d say go for it! The nursing profession is so versatile. You can be a clinical nurse, nurse manager, community nurse, mental health nurse and more. It offers you the chance to work in many different fields.
Charles Sturt University is the perfect place to study. The focus on practical learning and hands-on experience prepares you to be industry ready.
Studying here is more than just a step toward my career—it’s been a life-changing journey, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve found in Australia.
