Hi! My name is Jackson, born in the bustling capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (KL).
My parents have always believed that education is one of the most powerful tools for change, not just for personal growth, but also for making a meaningful impact on the world. Inspired by this belief, I set out to find a university that would challenge me, broaden my perspective, and prepare me for the future.
Australian education has long been recognised for its quality, innovation, and global outlook. I wanted to learn from an education provider with a strong reputation, academic excellence, and an environment that encourages critical thinking and real-world application – so an Australian option made sense for me.
Monash University in KL stood out immediately. The more I researched, the more I realised that Monash encompassed everything I was looking for: prestige, a dynamic learning culture, and an international network that opens doors to opportunities.
My journey at Monash Malaysia can be summed up in two words: challenging and fruitful.
Studying at Monash has pushed me beyond my comfort zone. It challenged me to think critically, adapt quickly, refine my skills and maintain an attention to detail.
Beyond the classroom, I served as the President of the Monash University Student Association (MUSA). This experience taught me how to balance different perspectives, make decisions under pressure, and most importantly, serve as a voice for the student community.
It required me to learn how to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and inclusivity. It also helped me develop self-discipline and time management skills, juggling coursework, leadership duties, and personal growth.
Looking back, my time at Monash Malaysia has been more than just an academic journey. It has been a transformative experience filled with invaluable lessons, friendships, and memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.
Seize every opportunity with an open mind and stay true to yourself. University life is filled with challenges and uncertainties, but it’s also a time for growth, exploration, and self-discovery.
Whether it’s joining student organisations, taking on leadership roles, or simply connecting with people from different backgrounds, every opportunity adds value to your journey.
Most importantly, don’t feel pressured to fit into a mould.
Be yourself, trust your process, and allow yourself to grow at your own pace. Studying at an Australian university is more than just earning a degree; it’s about gaining experiences that shape you into a well-rounded, adaptable, and confident individual.
